Cultivate Theology Rooted in Your Story
Too often, ministry leaders rely on imported frameworks that don’t quite fit their lived experiences. The Thriving Congregations Initiative, hosted by ISAAC and Grace Mission University, invites Asian American pastors and ministry leaders to explore theology that grows from the ground of their own stories — their communities, their history, and their faith in practice.
The Importance of Story in Theology
Stories shape our understanding of the world. They influence how we perceive our faith and community. In this program, participants will delve into their personal and communal narratives. This exploration will help them create a theology that resonates deeply with their experiences.
Through 10 interactive sessions led by theologian Jonathan Tran and nonprofit leader Shauw Chin Capps, participants will:
Build a story-based theological framework shaped by communal resonance and theological creativity.
Learn directly from a seasoned pastoral panel.
Develop a working “story theology” tailored to their own ministry context.
Authentic Practice and Deeper Roots
This isn’t theory for theory’s sake. It’s about deeper roots, authentic practice, and ministry that truly reflects your community’s story. By engaging with their own narratives, participants will cultivate a theology that is both relevant and transformative.
