Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” (John 21-23)
Description: How long are the people of God going to remain voluntarily segregated on Sundays at 11:00am? How long are we going to remain deficient because of our voluntary alienation from each other? “Together We Can Breathe” is a follow-up gathering to the first bilateral symposium ISAAC organized in November of 2014. The objective of this focus group is mutual learning and mutual strategizing to breathe together in the Spirit and take loving actions for God’s shalom in our cities.
Desired Outcome: We imagine a bilateral focus group will enhance God’s kingdom mission of seeking Shalom in our cities.
Build a bilateral space converging African American and Asian American faith leaders for mutual learning and mutual empowerment.
Share both our unique and our common histories and bridge the missing links between our churches and higher education.
Stand together in bringing God’s justice to our cities.
Explore concrete partnerships between African American and Asian American faith leaders for God’s mission in our cities.
